Biz - Tata Group!

Tata Consultancy Services opens SEZ in Gandhinagar AHMEDABAD: In a move that could spur employment in Gujarat's IT industry, Tata Consultancy Services launched its 10,000-seat software development facility in Gandhinagar on Saturday. Called 'Garima Park', the approved special economic zone has been developed over 25.5 acres with a built-up area of 1.6 million square feet. The facility was inaugurated by chief minister Narendra Modi along with Cyrus P Mistry, chairman, Tata Group and N Chandrasekaran, chief executive officer and managing director. "In Gujarat, any development in IT brings the same joy that a family feels when a child is born after several years of marriage. Gujarat is always perceived as a state that missed the IT bus when there was development elsewhere in this sector. But IT applications in the state, especially egovernance, is changing that perception," Modi said. On Tata group's association with the state, Mistry said that in the last decade, TCS has built sustainable relationships in the state and the park will put Gandhinagar on the global map. "TCS has played a pioneering role in making Gujarat an attractive IT destination for global companies and also helped drive technology- led growth by investing in talented youth of the state and building long-term partnerships with state institutions," Chandrasekaran said.
